The Internaciondal Open Karate Póvoa de Varzim 2019 already received registrations from six foreign athletes.
They are six 6 Polish athletes from the team “Harasuto Karate Klub Lodz”, Lodz.
These are the first registrations from a foreign team in the Open Karate Póvoa de Varzim 2019.
We’ll do all that we can to receive them kindly.

The Open Karate Póvoa de Varzim, after 12 hours of karate handed out 188 medals, distributed by 56 Teams.
The CK Maia, who brought the biggest entourage of the Tournament, was in first place for team, with 20 podiums.
Highlight to the presence of the No-Kachi team of Spain with 15 podiums (2nd place), and the Karate Strassen of Luxembourg with 10 podiums (4th place).
Closing the podium of the Teams, in 3rd place was the Center of Karate Goju-Ryu of Porto with 10 podiums.
The home team, the CKA, was in 9th place also with plenty of podiums.
Thanks to all the participants, who made Saturday’s day unforgettable.

In the morning, from 9 am, the KATA competitions will be held.
In the afternoon, starting at 2.30 pm, it’s time to the KUMITE competitions.
The finals will be held in Tatamis 3 and 5.

The competition draws for the Open Karate Póvoa de Varzim are now available.
On October 3rd, the IV International Open Karate of Póvoa de Varzim was presented, with 857 athletes from 7 different countries – Portugal, Spain, Luxembourg, France, the Netherlands, Morocco and Angola – with the strong presence of our neighbors with 56 athletes, divided by 6 teams. There will also come many athletes from a team in Luxembourg, that registered 34 athletes.
Altogether, there will be 96 teams represented, with athletes aged between 5 and 65 years old, who will compete in Kata and Kumite, surpassing the 1000 registrations, a record in this type of event in Portugal.
Some National and European champions will compete in our tatamis, such as Nuno Moreira, Vitalie Certan, Filipe Reis, Ana Cruz, Mauro Hernandez, André Vieira, among others.
Already with a lot of prestige reached in this type of organizations, the Center of Karate Aguçadourense (CKA) is the team that organizes the competition.
Since the first edition of this competition, in 2015, the organization’s concern has always been to provide a high level tournament, with the best conditions for athletes, technical teams and public. The number of registrations reached this year is a proof of the success of this organization. It is also a sign that karate is growing in Portugal.
The Karate Open this year has some new features, such as the offer of sportive massages to athletes during the event, and prizes for athletes who reach the podium in addition to the usual medals.
The event will take place on October 13th, in the municipal pavilion of Póvoa de Varzim.
Here is the result of the contest promoted by the Open Karate Póvoa de Varzim organization. This will be the official t-shirt, which can be purchased during the event for an affordable value, so that everyone can take a souvenir of their presence in Póvoa de Varzim. The drawing represents the event, the modality and the city, as intended in the contest rules. The winning t-shirt was able to meet the requirements by representing two athletes who greet each other in competition, with kimonos that have a pattern of local traditional acronyms. The logo identifies the event. These were the winners in the contest:

Cause the well-being of all who visit us is one of our biggest concerns, the Open Karate Póvoa de Varzim organization will offer a free massage to all participating athletes on the day of the event. During the Open, there will be a space where the athletes can go to enjoy a massage, given by professionals of the Center for Physical Rehabilitation Pimas, with great experience in the diagnosis, follow-up and treatment of injuries resulting from physical activity, sports or daily routine.

The competition will take place on the 13th October, in the municipal pavilion of the city, a space with excellent conditions to receive clubs, athletes and public, for a day of joy and emotions.
The Open Karate Póvoa de Varzim will include Kata and Kumite competitions, from all age groups (Pre-Infants, Children, Initiates, Juveniles, Cadets, Juniors, Seniors and Veterans) from various regions of Portugal and other countries. There will also be a Kata competition for athletes with Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome).

Portugal, Morocco, Spain, France, Luxembourg and Angola already registered athletes on the International Open Karate Póvoa de Varzim. It will be a high-level competition, with european and non-european athletes! No one wants to stay out! We invite all teams who desire to participate, to register at www.sportdata.com, to insure the entry on the competition that opens the new season in Portugal. In the name of the good organization and harmony of the event, there is a limit of registrations!
The Portuguese National Championship Infantile, Initiate and Juvenil 2018 took place last 19th May at the Sports Hall of Póvoa de Varzim. We thank all the participants for having fulfilled the procedures proposed by the organization, which allowed everything to go according to our plan! Here are the photos of the podiums.
